Japanese Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism:
Provisional Accreditation System for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism Therapists
Provisional Accreditation
Since this system requires the acquisition of five (5) years' worth of units (credits), a provisional accreditation system is established.
The following are mandatory requirements for provisional accreditation:
(1) The person has renewed his/her NST therapist qualification at least once (at least five years have passed since qualification was acquired).
(2) Since acquiring the NST therapist qualification, the person has made at least one presentation (as lead presenter) relating to the acquired field at a Society academic meeting.
As an accreditation policy, the Society set a primary goal of opening its doors widely and accepting members who wish to acquire accreditation/qualification. Target members would conceivably be those who have already made at least one (1) presentation at a Society academic meeting related to a field in which they wish to acquire accreditation. On the other hand, conditions for renewal will be the same as for full accreditation, making it necessary to systematically acquire the required units (credits) during the five-year period leading up to the next renewal.
Start of Provisional Accreditation Procedures
-At the fourth FY 2018 ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors, held on Friday, November 16, 2018, implementation of the Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism Therapist System Accreditation Regulations, Provisional Accreditation Regulations, and Provisional Accreditation Procedures was approved. Then at the sixth Ordinary General Meeting of Employees, held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, this system was approved.
-The provisional accreditation application process began on May 20, 2019. The application period was May 20, 2019 to the last day of July 2019, and was approved the next year at the February 2020 General Meeting of Employees. The provisional accreditation application period will be five (5) years (2019 to 2023).
-The time periods and outlines of the target field seminars will take into account the number of people in the provisional accreditation fields. Accordingly, the initial seminar is expected to take place in 2020.
